App Development
Android App Development for Indian Businesses
ConvertriX builds Android apps that work on the phones your customers actually carry, from budget handsets with 3 GB of RAM to current flagships. We write in Kotlin, design for patchy networks, wire in UPI and Razorpay payments, and take the app through Play Console review to a live listing you own.
Overview
About our android app development service
Android is where most Indian users are, and that shapes how an Android app has to be built. Your audience is spread across hundreds of device models, several Android versions and a wide range of screen sizes, with plenty of entry-level phones that have limited memory and storage. An app that feels quick on a developer's flagship can stutter, get killed in the background or fail to install on a phone that is already full. We test on a spread of real low-end and mid-range devices, keep the install size small, and treat memory use as a requirement, not an afterthought.
Network conditions matter just as much. Users move between 4G, weak signal and no signal at all, so we design offline-first where the use case allows. Data is cached locally with Room, actions queue while the phone is offline and sync when the connection returns, and screens show useful content instead of a spinner. For payments we integrate UPI intent flows so customers can pay from PhonePe, Google Pay or Paytm in a tap, alongside the Razorpay or Cashfree SDK for cards, netbanking and wallets.
As an app development company in Odisha working with clients across India, we handle the parts that often stall a launch. That includes Play Console setup, the data safety form, target API level requirements, content rating and closed testing tracks that new developer accounts now need before production access. We also build with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 in mind, collecting only the permissions and personal data the app needs and recording consent where it is required.
What's included
Everything in scope, written down
Discovery and feature scoping
A written feature list, user roles, screen map and integration plan agreed before design starts, so the quote and timeline rest on real scope.
UI and UX design for Android
Figma screens that follow Material Design patterns, with layouts checked on small screens, large text settings and both light and dark themes.
Native Kotlin development
A Kotlin codebase using Jetpack libraries and Jetpack Compose, structured so new features can be added without rewriting existing screens.
Offline mode and sync
Local storage with Room, background sync with WorkManager and clear conflict rules, so the app stays usable on weak or no network.
Payments and UPI
UPI intent flows plus the Razorpay or Cashfree SDK, with server-side payment verification so orders are confirmed only when money has actually arrived.
Push notifications and deep links
Firebase Cloud Messaging for transactional and campaign alerts, with deep links that open the exact screen a notification refers to.
Backend and admin panel
APIs, a database and a web admin panel for managing users, content and orders, or integration with the backend you already run.
Play Store launch
Play Console setup, store listing, data safety declarations, closed testing and release management through to production.
Process
How the project runs
- 1
Scope and device plan
We agree features, priorities and the minimum Android version, and pick a test device list that reflects the phones your users own.
- 2
Design and clickable prototype
Key flows are designed in Figma and walked through on a phone, so changes to layout and navigation happen before code is written.
- 3
Sprint-based development
Features are built in two-week sprints, and each sprint ends with an installable build shared through Firebase App Distribution.
- 4
Testing on real devices
Functional, performance and network testing on low-end and mid-range phones, plus crash and ANR checks before any release.
- 5
Play Console review and launch
We prepare the listing and declarations, run the closed test, submit for review and stage the rollout to production.
- 6
Post-launch monitoring
Crashlytics and Play Console vitals are watched in the first weeks, and fixes ship quickly while real usage data comes in.

Pricing
How this is priced
Android apps are quoted per project because the cost follows scope. The main drivers are the number of screens and user roles, whether offline sync is needed, payment and third-party integrations, the backend and admin panel, and how many device types must be supported. Store fees, hosting and SMS or API usage are listed separately. After a scoping call we send a fixed-scope quote broken into phases, so you know exactly what each stage delivers before approving it.

Android App Development: common questions
Should I build a native Android app or a cross-platform app?
Choose native Kotlin if the app is Android-only or relies heavily on device features like the camera, Bluetooth, background location or hardware integrations. If you also need an iOS version soon, a cross-platform Flutter or React Native app usually costs less to build and maintain. We recommend one approach during scoping based on your users, features and roadmap, rather than defaulting to a single stack.
Will the app work on low-cost Android phones?
Yes, provided low-end performance is planned from the start, which we do. We set a realistic minimum Android version, keep the install size small, limit memory use and test on budget devices, not only on new phones. Images are compressed, heavy libraries are avoided, and background work is scheduled carefully so Android does not kill the app or drain the battery on phones with limited RAM.
Can customers pay through UPI inside the app?
Yes. We integrate UPI intent so customers pick PhonePe, Google Pay, Paytm or any installed UPI app and pay in a tap, then return to your app. Cards, netbanking and wallets run through the Razorpay or Cashfree SDK. Every payment is verified on the server before an order is confirmed, which prevents false success screens and makes refunds and reconciliation straightforward.
Do you handle the Google Play Store submission?
Yes, we take the app from build to live listing. That covers Play Console setup, the store listing and screenshots, the data safety form, content rating, target API level compliance and the closed testing period that new personal developer accounts must complete. We publish under your developer account so the app, its reviews and its download history stay with your business.
How long does it take to build an Android app?
A focused first version usually takes a few weeks to a few months, depending on screens, integrations and backend work. Discovery and design come first, then development in two-week sprints with an installable build at the end of each one. Play review time and any required closed testing period are added to the plan up front, so the launch date is realistic.
