Ecommerce and Delivery App Development

ConvertriX builds ecommerce and delivery apps as a connected system: a customer app for browsing and ordering, a rider or staff app for fulfilment, and an admin panel for stock, orders and payouts. Each piece is designed for Indian conditions, with UPI and cash on delivery, live tracking, GST invoices and offline-tolerant rider flows.

Overview

About our ecommerce & delivery apps service

An ordering app is rarely one app. A grocery store, restaurant group, pharmacy or distributor needs customers to browse and pay, staff to pick and pack, riders to accept and complete deliveries, and managers to see what is happening across every order. When these parts are built separately, or bolted onto a marketplace with fixed commissions, data falls out of sync and the team ends up managing orders on WhatsApp. We design the customer app, rider app and admin panel around a single backend, so stock, order status and payments stay consistent at every step.

Indian checkout behaviour shapes the build. Customers expect to pay by UPI in a tap, so we use UPI intent through the Razorpay or Cashfree SDK, with cards, netbanking and wallets as backups. Cash on delivery is still essential in many markets, so the rider app records collection and the admin panel reconciles cash against orders. Invoices carry GSTIN, HSN codes and the correct tax split. Delivery slots, pincode serviceability, minimum order values and coupons are configured in the admin panel, not hard-coded in the app.

The rider side has to cope with poor networks and low-end phones. Riders often work in basements, market lanes and rural roads where signal drops, so the rider app caches assigned orders, records proof of delivery offline with photos or OTP, and syncs when the connection returns. Live tracking uses Google Maps with location updates tuned to save battery. Push notifications through FCM and APNs keep customers updated, and customer data is handled in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Process

How the project runs

  1. 1

    Operations mapping

We walk through your order flow, delivery model, payment mix and stock source, and agree which apps and roles are needed.

  2. 2

    Design of all three sides

Customer, rider and admin flows are designed together in Figma so every order status and handoff is accounted for.

  3. 3

    Backend and admin first

The catalogue, order engine and admin panel are built first, so products and stock can be loaded while the apps are in progress.

  4. 4

    Customer and rider apps

Both apps are built in sprints with test builds every two weeks, tested on budget Android phones and iPhones.

  5. 5

    Pilot run

A limited launch in one area or store with real orders, so delivery, payment and reconciliation issues surface before full rollout.

  6. 6

    Store launch and scale-up

Play Store and App Store submission, rollout to more zones and monitoring of order, payment and crash data.

Pricing

How this is priced

Ecommerce and delivery apps are quoted per project because scope varies widely. The main cost drivers are the number of apps (customer, rider, store or vendor), catalogue size and variants, delivery logic such as slots, zones and live tracking, payment and COD handling, and integrations with POS, Tally or courier services. Maps, SMS, gateway and hosting charges are listed separately. After a scoping call we send a fixed-scope quote broken into phases, with an option to start with a pilot.

FAQ

Ecommerce & Delivery Apps: common questions

Why build my own ordering app instead of selling on marketplaces?

Your own app lets you keep the margin and the customer relationship. Marketplaces bring discovery but take commission on each order and control customer data and promotions. Many businesses keep a marketplace presence for new customers and move repeat buyers to their own app with better prices or loyalty rewards. We help you plan that mix, so the app is built for repeat ordering, not just a copy of a catalogue.

Do you build the rider and admin apps as well as the customer app?

Yes. A delivery business needs all three to work together, so we scope them as one system on a shared backend. The customer app handles browsing and payment, the rider app handles assignment, navigation and proof of delivery, and the web admin panel handles products, stock, orders and reports. If you use third-party couriers instead of your own riders, we integrate their APIs.

Can the app handle cash on delivery and GST invoices?

Yes. Customers can choose COD alongside UPI and online payment, and the rider app records cash collected per order. The admin panel reconciles that cash per rider at day end. Every order generates a GST-compliant invoice with your GSTIN, HSN codes and the correct CGST, SGST or IGST split, and data can be exported or synced to Tally for accounts.

Will the rider app work in areas with poor network?

Yes, we design it for that. Assigned orders are stored on the phone, status updates and proof of delivery are saved offline and sent when the signal returns, and the app avoids heavy screens that slow down budget phones. Location updates are batched to save battery and data, so tracking stays useful without draining a rider's phone during a long shift.
